Here’s a quick peek inside the 2009 La Paulée de Meursault - 700 people packed into the cellars of the Chateau de Meursault for the world’s most famous wine party. It’s an afternoon of great wine, food, song and perhaps the most festive atmosphere anywhere on the planet!

It is a wonderful feeling to have the 2009 vintage put to bed, especially so because the wines are gorgeous!

Crush 2009 - Pt. 2 - the Video

We picked about 8.5 tons of beautiful Pinot from our Block 10 at Maresh Vineyard in the Dundee Hills yesterday morning - Crush 2009 has begun! The quality seems to be quite good - should be a very promising vintage if this is any indication of the overall quality…

First off, thanks for the kind words and the nice reaction to our first podcast. I’m excited to get this series up and running, and hope to have new programs ready to roll on a semi-regular basis - meaning as often as this wacky schedule of a vigneron/importer allows!

Here then is Part 2 of my conversation with Allen Meadows - who is not only Burghound, I should point out, but also a leading writer/critic on Pinot Noir wines from Oregon and California. I’m excited to announce the debut of the Scott Paul Pinot Podcasts - an irregular series of on-line radio programs devoted to our favorite subject - the world of Pinot Noir! In my previous incarnation I was a national radio personality for over 25 years, and I’m thrilled to get back “on the air” and talking about Pinot (which beats playing the same Michael Jackson record every two hours, believe me!) We’ll have interviews, mini-seminars, conversation, education, and whatever else sounds like a good idea at the time!

We’re honored to kick-off the series with an in-depth conversation with Mr. Burghound himself, Allen Meadows. Since 2000 Allen has been the publisher of the quarterly Burghound.com, which has quickly become the reference standard for Burgundy reviews and coverage of the world’s most exciting and complex wine region. Allen spends a minimum of four months each year living and tasting in Burgundy, and is perhaps the world’s leading authority on the wines, vineyards, producers, and history of all things Burgundian.
